Le Monde Communications specialising in solving home Wi-Fi issues in Totteridge an all accross Hertforshire. So when a local client contacted us about ongoing Wi-Fi problems in their home,we knew that the frustration was clear. Despite having a broadband connection that should have been more than adequate, they were experiencing slow internet speeds, frequent dropouts, and multiple dead zones throughout the property.

This large detached house in Totteridge (N20) is home to a busy family with four teenage children, all constantly online for streaming, gaming, studying, and social media. On top of that, both parents regularly work from home, relying on stable, fast connectivity for video calls and cloud-based work. Their existing setup simply couldn’t keep up.

The Initial Assessment

We arranged an on-site visit to fully understand the issue. During the survey, it quickly became apparent that the current network infrastructure was underpowered for a property of this size and usage level.

The home relied on:

  • A standard ISP-supplied router

  • A single powerline-based Wi-Fi extender

While this setup may work in smaller properties ta a limited degree, it was wholley insufficient to provide consistent coverage across a large, detached house with solid walls and high device demand.

The Solution: A Properly Designed Network

Rather than relying on additional extenders (which often introduce speed loss and instability), we designed a structured, future-proof solution.

Our action plan included:

  • Discreetly installing Category 6 Ethernet cabling throughout the property

  • Providing five wired network locations in key areas of the house

  • Deploying a professionally managed Wi-Fi system designed for seamless roaming

All cabling was installed carefully and discreetly to preserve the aesthetics of the home.

Equipment Used

To deliver enterprise-grade performance in a residential environment, we installed:

  • 5 × Ubiquiti UniFi Pro U7 Access Points

  • UniFi Pro Switch

  • UniFi Cloud Controller for centralised management, monitoring, and updates

To avoid interference and signal conflicts, we disabled the Wi-Fi functionality on the existing router, allowing it to focus solely on routing traffic while the UniFi system handled wireless connectivity.

The Result: Seamless, Whole-Home Coverage

The new access points provide superb coverage throughout the entire property. As users move around the house, devices automatically connect to the strongest available access point, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity at all times.

This creates a true Wi-Fi mesh experience, without the speed loss and instability often associated with consumer extenders.
